Speaking of lifts, ... By: Juldavadams. on 25 Mar 12, 02:33:20 Speaking of lifts, anyone building a router table might want to consider the lift on John Heisz's ibuildit.ca. I built that lift, and it works beautifully. A crank on the front of the table lifts the router smoothly and effortlessly. The router can be lifted all the way to the top allowing both wrenches to be used without restriction from the top? of the table. I built a fence similar to the one described in the above video.

Have you considered ... By: inlaywalnut. on 21 Mar 12, 08:10:46 Have you considered adding T-Track? for the fence to the table, about 8 and 3/4 in from the sides? It seems like it would assist when moving the fence, making the movement smoother. With miter bars it would move like a table saw sled, easing positioning.
Steve I've been a ... By: willemstockton. on 20 Mar 12, 18:19:05 Steve I've been a long time fan. I've enjoyed watching your videos very much and they have always inspired me. Unfortunately I often lacked the tools you use, especially with your devotion to the router. But I've finally decided to buy one and expand my horizons.? So I want to build your table! I'm watching and thinking "man that melamine is expensive, even that plywood is expensive to alot of us. So, if you had to guess, what would you say your total materials cost was?
Only comment I have ... By: xConundrumx. on 19 Mar 12, 21:12:55 Only comment I have (on top of the whole debate around lifts) is that you could make the sliding parts of the fence with, for example, a 45 angle on the ends near the router bit. That way you can clamp small self-made insert plates between these two jaw-like sliders. These insert plates could then be routed with various router bits. This way you would have inserts that provide maximum support when routing smaller pieces of wood (i.e. the hole in? your fence would be the same shape as the bit).
I have wondered ... By: videogalore. on 19 Mar 12, 09:19:35 I have wondered about making one of these for a while now, and this is a great video to help!
Can I ask why you didn't make the fence restrained by any fixing in the table top itself? I? think the clamps are great, but I can't see an easy way of making it square to the router? I can only assume that it's better practice to measure the fence before working anyway, rather than rely on being able to get the fence mounting slots square?
Keep it up, very well edited videos!

One of the biggest differences in your vids is the professional-style of editing. Makes them much more enjoyable to watch. Your multi-drawer cabinet would be a perfect project for the modified hasp drawer stop featured in the latest issue of WOOD. You're really blowing? it if you don't parlay your woodworking vids into something big. They're not like everyone else's. Up to you. 5905850@epbfi.com.

First, how do you you find time to film these?! You? do a great job with them.
Second, I am inspired by the message that your videos send out. Whether induced by mad scientist hypnosis or just plain having fun in the garage mayhem, you've taught me to just tackle projects I want to do and that I don't need every fancy (ie., expensive) jig/contraption/tool on the market. Thanks!

1) Try parchment paper instead? of waxed. Get it at the grocers right next to the waxed. Stuff - including glue - Does. Not. Stick to parchment paper.
2) Instead of prying the wood off the carpet tape, use acetone to disolve the glue. Doesn't hurt the wood, and evaporates almost instantly.
3) Don't forget to sign and date the back or inside!

This should be a puzzle. Tell people? to remove the nail.
By: iluvthtre1. on 07 May 12, 06:06:34
I believe he drilled the hole large enough so that the nail still moved, much? more of a brain teaser.
By: iluvthtre1. on 07 May 12, 06:05:08
That was a piece of 2x4 pine. It wouldn't work that well with a hardwood, but would still work to? a degree.
By: SuperFunSon. on 05 May 12, 20:06:40
what tool is that? at 1:31?
By: spelunkerd. on 03 May 12, 19:55:19
That's a great trick. Having had a memorable close call with a table saw using short stock, I would have used a longer piece of lumber so? my fingers weren't so close. Then I would have cut it to length only after all the complicated cuts were completed. Nice video.
By: SurvivalWienerWald. on 29 Apr 12, 20:51:17
