A video about what to expect when you go to the groomers. I find a lot of people are not sure what to look for in a groomer and what to notice when they pick their pet up, so I figured I would help out!
I often have people ask me where I got my toys for my bird room. Many of them have been made at my home and are really easy to create! There are many sites online that give ideas on what you can use as a base, as well as other ideas for gyms.
Getting a new bird is exciting, but make sure you introduce your new bird and your current flock slowly! never force birds to be friends, and keep a close watch on everyone for the first few days to be sure no one is fighting. Remember, be smart about who you let play together! A conure sized bird can do some serious damage to a small budgie!
FANTASTIC video, ... By: Sharpiesabre2. on 13 May 12, 08:34:26 FANTASTIC video, plenty of helpful tips? and info! Exactly what i have been looking for!
A short video about the different kinds of litter there are on the market and what the pros and cons are about each one.
Remember, not all cats will use a new litter, buy you should try your best to use a litter that is safe for your cat first, and your sanity second
Cats don't ... By: 14Raine14. on 22 Apr 12, 21:08:20 Cats don't naturally use clay to use the bathroom. They use sand, dirt, or even just go on the grass.? Any litter can foster germs and insects, plus clay litter can lead to issues in your cat such as lung issues, urinary issues, and even blockages.
after trying ... By: disneylover4ever. on 10 Apr 12, 01:58:45 after trying World's Best, I have decided to stick with clumping clay litters. I found it made the smell of my cat's poo worse. I have heard people mention a risk of something called aflotoxins? as well. A lot of review mention swheat scoop sticks to the bottom of the pan and doesn't clump well. Plus, some people have found bugs in both swheat scoop and world's best. I figure cats would naturally use clay to potty, and it doesn't foster germs or insects, so a fragrance free type should be safe.
A video on a greay way to help bring your fid out for walks! I made my stroller from free things, so if you're lucky enough to do the same all the better! A much more economic alternative to buying a backpack type stroller made for birds.
Remember to introduce the stroller to your bird slowly, and always be sure to use an appropriate leash to be safe!
A simple (and very dark, sorry!) video about the kinds of 'bedding' you can use to line the bottom of your bird cages. There are many different types out there, so do your reading and ifnd the best one for you and your bird!
My U2 coming down off the toys to 'eat' the kitten. He got a bit to close and scared Jack away, but both were fine, Goonie just got to close. What a bird!

I get this question ... By: 14Raine14. on 14 Jan 12, 14:18:02 I get this question a lot, lol! And my answer has always been the? same, that really depends on what you are asking. I have my own personal pets, but I also foster for 2 of the rescue's in the area. So, for Pet I have a Baset hound, a St Bernard, a cat, an eastern rosella, 3 cockatiels, a linnie and an umbrella cockatoo (I recently lost my lovebird to cancer) The cats in this svideo were fosters, I also had their mother. All of these cats are gone now.

hi :) I have ... By: mtallison333. on 06 Nov 11, 22:49:14 hi :) I have thoroughly enjoyed your? videos. best bird help on YouTube. I was wondering if you would do a video on how to tame birds or at least get them accustomed to human contact. if you have maybe got a bird that isn't that tame it would be really helpful to see how you tame him//her. thanks. mta
A popula bird for first and long time bird owners, the Lovebird is readily available from reputable breeders all over. Small, goofie bird loud for their size, this little guys are full of personality and curiousity.
I'm sorry to burst ... By: 14Raine14. on 19 Jan 12, 14:49:23 I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think I know any quiet conures! Conures are known for being loud when they want to, and it has been in my experince that? on average conure's are much louder then cockatiels. Just remember that ALL BIRDS MAKE SOUND, and contact calling is normal, and so should never be discouraged.
I am learning a lot ... By: MsPinkandShiny. on 10 Jan 12, 07:41:12 I am learning a lot. I'm going? to purchase a bird next month. My 1st. I have to pick between a green check conure and a cockatiel. I hear the green check conures are much quieter.
A video about taking your bird out in public. Just some things you want to keep in mind to keep your bird safe, and other things you may want to concider. Just remember that ever a bird who's wings are clipped can still fly into a dog's mouth or a moving car. Be sure that your bird has a proper harness (no leg ties please!) that fits well and is secure to you at all times.
In my opinion, ... By: 14Raine14. on 05 Aug 11, 12:31:15 In my opinion, having a 27 year old Sun Conure take a week or two to adjust to a harness is a much better option the the risk of loosing her if she even got spooked and took off. To me it's not a risk I would be willing to take. Harnesses come in many shapes and designs, I'm sure it would not take long to find one that Petey wouldn't mind. She may not fly now, but you can never gaurentee that someone wont set her? off
Petey doesnt like ... By: cucumberwedge. on 05 Aug 11, 01:07:24 Petey doesnt like to fly sadly....so when I have her out she stays there unles I? tell her to fly to her cage. I've been thinking about getting her one but to where she's 27 I don't think she will like it...
Some birds are like ... By: 14Raine14. on 04 Aug 11, 03:44:22 Some birds are like that, but I still suggest having her wings clipped, or if she likes to fly i nthe house have a harness for her. The Aviator harness is a good? choice. trust me, it's better to be safe then sorry. When you think about it, the 20$ is worth the piece of mind. I would hate for something to happen to your sunny an you kick yourself forever becfause it could have been prevented by a harness. Good to hear she gets out though!
I take my Sun ... By: cucumberwedge. on 03 Aug 11, 17:28:07 I take my Sun Conure outside. She loves it! Even thou she has all her flight feathers? she dont fly away!
In this short clip I show how to put the harness on a bird. As I said in part one of the Aviator Harness videos, this harness is very easy to put on once your bird knows what's going on! There are a lot of good videos to check out on how to do the training part of this, as well as a DVD that comes with the Harness.
So far as I know ... By: 14Raine14. on 17 Jan 11, 15:38:40 So far as I know this is the smallest size, I don't think it would be good for Budgies. You would have to go onto the Parrot University site and see what they suggest. I woudl hate for you to get one and it be to large and your bird either fly away or hurt itself. The website will be able to tell you what size is best. If it is to big I? suggest looking at the Avian Fasions site, they have a harness type diaper that would be small enough, I have one for my Linnie.
I? was wondering if ... By: sarajenkins98. on 17 Jan 11, 02:42:02 I? was wondering if they make these for parakeets/budgies and if you would put them on the same way?
You should be okay, ... By: 14Raine14. on 29 Sep 10, 00:05:46 You should be okay, I woudln't want to make the head collar to large just to simplify getting it on as you may loose your bird; the harness could shift while your bird is flying. As far as how Chippy is outside, he is very good, but he is not trained to recall back to me. If your bird is not trained before bringing him out I suggest not doing to much traning outdoors, unless? your bird is very bonded to you and will fly to you on his own will. Just like a dog, it will take them a while!
what i meant by ' ... By: XsoaproX. on 28 Sep 10, 11:38:23 what i meant by 'make the xsmall head collar smaller' was to? maybe sew the front part to make it smaller. but anyway, i also wanted to ask how your cockatiel acts outside and how well the aviator works. and also, is it hard trying to get the collar off their head? especially with their crest i would have thought it a bit of a challenge. And one more question (sorry!) how long did/does it take for them to learn that they cant fly off? thanks!
This is the petite ... By: 14Raine14. on 28 Sep 10, 11:23:42 This is the petite size, and that is all you will need. There is no way to adjust the size of the neck collar, it is a safety that the company put on the harnesses so that the birds cannot hurt themselves by getting a wing out through the head collar. They are easy to put on, you should not have a problem, it will? be snug though. Just remember that once the harness is on the head collar will sit UNDER the feathers, he should have plenty of room.

By: XsoaproX. on 28 Sep 10, 05:06:45 hey Raine! um, i was wondering what size you used because i have the petite and? the xsmall and the petite head part is SO SMALL!! sparky is a male cockatiel and he has a big head, and i was wondering how easy it is to take off their head. it also looks like it will choke sparky because its so small! do you think it would be good if on the xsmall harness i made the collar a bit smaller so its bigger than the petite but not by a lot?

I got this Harness ... By: 14Raine14. on 06 Aug 10, 12:53:32 I got this Harness at my Bird store, but you should be able to ask for them at any pet store that has bird supplies. If that doesn't work, they can be ordered online off the Parrot University website. I would suggest useing only this harness if Beaker is to be flying outside, all of ther leashes could hurt him? if the wind picked him up and he needed to re adjust, or if he missed your mark and had to try again.
Awesome, Thanks for ... By: nogrules. on 06 Aug 10, 05:09:17 Awesome, Thanks for posting? these vids. Where did you buy this harness? I want to get one for my cockatiel it seems like the easiest on to put on, and I like the idea of the strechy leash.
A quick video on a great product to use as a toy base for your birds. Choke chains are reusable, stainless steal, and extremely stong! The chain provides lots of places to thread string through as well as putting blocks of wood or beats into.
Generally speaking, ... By: 14Raine14. on 11 May 10, 01:23:55 Generally speaking, yes, but you can get choke* chain type collars that are made of a braided rope, so it's not really a chain so to speak. I'm guessing that somewhere someone sells choke chains that are made of something stronger, but the point of the matter is that? they are strong, and your brid can't eat it

Birds changing from a seeded to pelleted diet may be vitamin deficiant and this is a way to get the balence they have been lacking. If the bird is eating seeds, which ones? Some birds have learned to eat out of boredum, just like humans do. Is the bird aloud to come out of the cage? Maybe? he has never had the room to move around and doesn't know what do to with the extra space? Does the bird have toys?

Just a list of things that you should do to prepare yourself for the new baby. I tried to pack this video with as many things as I could think of. Please make sure you have concidered this fully before you even think about looking for a breeder! Birds are not like dogs and cats!

A bit of a Rant about something that peeves me like you have no idea! It is wrong to have any kind of bird locked inside a cage with no toys, whether it is a breeding pair or a pet who spends most of his/her day out of the cage. Birds need toys, PERIOD!
Part 2 of bird toys. Again, always make sure your toys are safe, geared to the size of your bird, and placed in the cage so that if the bird gets stuck or tangled, he/she has the side of the cage to grab on to until help arrives. Also, ALWAYS supervise your bird for the first 10 minutes after a new toy has been added to the cage to make sure your bird does not get hurt with the new toy.
@177gaga Paint on ... By: 14Raine14. on 12 Oct 10, 23:58:03 @177gaga Paint on toys is not commonly seen in pet stores, but if so I suggest avoiding them. Most wood toys are dyed with a vegetable based dye, and this is? fine for your birds. The only thing I suggest keeping away from is flavored wood as this can encourage your bird to eat the wood which can cause MAJOR problems, even death. Keep a look out for my new set up video, I will try to post it in the next couple of days.

By: MissWitchiepoo. on 29 Jul 10, 18:25:14 I hope to make some videoes on how to make easy and cheap toys later, to add a little fun into our? feathered friends lives;) It can be so simple as buying a roll of paper sting and cutting a bunch of finger length pieces and just take one and tie around the middle and hang it on the side of the cage. Both my parrots has had lots of fun with that:) There is no excuse for bored parrots LOL
I live in Canada, ... By: 14Raine14. on 28 Jul 10, 20:49:20 I live in Canada, and it can be difficult to find a pet store that sells bird toys that are appropriate for birds. A lot of pet stores do not keep them? because there isn't as much of a demand for tropical birds in country that gets so cold in the winter, similar to not seeing St. Bernards in Mexico or Africa! I spend a lot of time with rescued birds showing them how to play becasue most people will either not look for toys, or just not buy them. Thumbs up for knowing your stuff!
It is very ... By: MissWitchiepoo. on 28 Jul 10, 15:11:00 It is very important to have lots of toys but in countries like mine you can get only either budgie cheap plastic toys or ones for big parrots and no shredding or forage toys. Even though I have spent tons of money to find something for my birds, my lovebird didn't play for 2 years. Then I found an online store with shreddibles and now he won't stop playing;) They both? love their toys. Also important is out of cage flying time to flap their wings so they remember they are birds!

If not, and you cannot call the company or find out online then I would look for a different kind. I have seen people use these for bird toys, and the only thing that I would say is to check what wood they are made of and to make sure the paint is lead free. Blocks marked as Baby safe are the best, but the wood is something you NEED? to check, the wood must be bird safe!
