This is my favorite time to watch this tank. It's after the main lights have gone out for the day.
Just a 96w toward the back of the tank is on at this point. The Kuhli loaches and shrimp feel more comfortable in this light so they venture out further, making this the best time to bottom feed.

To answer your questions, yes those are male cherry barbs and the plant is Downoi (Pogostemon helferi). It's not the easiest of plants to grow but once it takes hold it really fills in nicely.

Yes I do use a UV sterilizer.....for years now. But the bugs are in the substrate not the water column so I can't imaging how the sterilizer would help.

The female will have a light coloring on it's back that looks like a horses saddle. Dobermanns and rottweilers are slowly getting their tails back. It was purely for show to have the ears and tails cropped/docked. I love your dog's natural ears. I'm glad that ear cropping and so forth is illegal where I live. Lovely dog and great tempered, because he doesn't mind having chickens peck away at his? breakfast. My APBT puppy (Colby bloodline meaning those real apbt used for dog fighting in the past) will never see in his meal raw.. because is dangerous? for the others not for me. He will always want to fight ofc i will not let him but god knows what will happen in one day biting other dog or a human and when he will feel the flesh and blood only a gun will stop him,and i don't want my lovely Thor to be in this situation. Razor..raw chicken is one of the best foods you could feed your dog. The food you feed your dog does not determine his temperament it's how? you bring him up/train him. I fed Logan raw foods (mostly chicken) for the first six months of his life and he never once associated live chicken with food.

my dog used to climb a lattice fence to get at my chickens, good job she never got up that 6ft fence. was a shame when she was 1 though kicked open the door and her and my male plucked three chickens still alive, later to go back and snap 4 necks. needless to say the remaining chickens were given away.? so be warned not all dobes are this friendly
