It depends? a bit on your dog, but generally try to keep sessions short and sharp - 5 minutes is a good starting point. Good luck with your dog.

Good question! Targeting can be used to teach dogs all kinds of basic as well as advanced behaviors. Targeting can used to teach a dog to heel, to? turn off light switches, close drawers and doors, etc. It is also useful as a re-focusing behavior to help calm anxious dogs.

Good until adding the cue - at first the cue should be added while the dog is touching the target stick. Then, just as the dog touches the target stick, and finally? just before the dog touches the stick.

By: DogTrainingTricks. on 08 Jun 09, 05:14:07
Hi, Macy is 4? years old. I started her on the target stick when she was 2. There's no reason why you can't start your dog off at a much younger age though - it's never too early. Thanks for your question.

An afferpinscher would be a good choice. The most important things to consider when selecting a puppy are that? you purchase from a reputable and respected breeder who cares for the health and wellbeing of his/her puppies. Plus you then must provide all the puppy socialization and training required for your puppy to grow to be a well balanced and trusted member of society. Good luck when you get your puppy.

Yes of course! A dog is never too old to? learn new tricks - unless there is a physical reason why your dog can't perform the trick. Older dogs do great when learning tricks and if you haven't used clicker training methods before, I'm sure your dog will love it! All the best with your dog.
