Automotive Repair: Locating Battery Drain Using Voltage Drop
Posted by: MotorAgeMagazine
Video duration: 284 seconds
Global video hits: 57857
workshop.search-auto parts.com You can't measure voltage drop across a resistance unless current is flowing, right? Well, if something is draining the battery, there must be current flowing where there shouldn't be. SO...let's measure across easily accessible resistors...the fuses! And see where that current flow is.

100% Correct? :)

Ok folks DO NOT DO THIS TO YOURSELF, the reason the swelling kept coming back is that when a Dr drains your knee they follow it up by shooting it with? Cortisone to keep the swelling from coming back. This guy got lucky that it didn't get infected. Not only that but I've had the procedure done several times because of complications with my ACL replacement which lead to arthritis, and the procedure is great you can run out of the Dr's office after.

Cool - nice to hear good stories. It's 3 years? later since it healed up on its own, and i have not had any issues. I still answer a lot of questions though ;)
By: DiamantaireMarie. on 07 Feb 12, 17:24:04
Glad you didn't need the surgery. A friend of mine had that surgery done and had nothing but regrets. When the same thing happened? with his other knee he did exactly what you did. Once the inflammation subsided the area stopped producing fluid, same as what appears to have happened with your case.

DUDE RELAX AND CALM DOWN, WHY YOU YELLING IN AN ALL CAPS RAGE? ? LOL ! THIS WAS 3-4 YEARS AGO AND I'M FINE AND HAVE NOT HAD A SINGLE ISSUE IN OVER 3 YEARS NOW (OLD VIDEO) BUT THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN !! ;) HOPE YOUR DAY GETS BETTER - CHEERS !!!!!!!!!
By: NICOSIADON. on 15 Jan 12, 10:24:42
DEAR SIR, AM ABSOLUTELY STUNNED!!!! PL TAKE A CEPHALOSPORIN ANTIBIOTIC SUCH AS CEFOTOXIME OR CEFTAZIDIME A DOSE ONE DAY BEFORE THE SURGERY AND CONTINUE THE ANTIBIOTIC TREATMENT AFTER THE DRAINING. YOU MUST DISINFECT THE AREA BEFORE PUNCTURING THE SKIN., OR ELSE IT MAY CAUSE SEVERE INFECTION OF JOINT AND THAT LEADS TO STILL WORSENED CONDITIONS. SO FOR SO GOOD. ALL TIMES WILL NOT BE THE? SAME. BUT AM STUNNED THAT YOU HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE OF LIGAMENTS OR BURSA!!!U R SIMPLY TAKING RISK!

I go through this every two months? or so. What was the diagnosis, and how long is the recovery period post surgery?
By: loobycliff. on 01 Jan 12, 15:12:51
Why should anyone be "grossed out"? That's ridiculous. If you were discovering your? country 200 years ago the people who find a very simple procedure "gross" wouldn't have lasted five minutes! "Ooh no, I can't possibly cross the Mississippi - I've broken a fingernail!" Thanks for a useful video - I've got to do this on myself soon. I fell over on some ice a few years ago and banged my knee really hard - it was miracle I didn't break it, and now I get this every couple of years.

Hold ice to the spot you plan on stabbing. That helps reduce pain. Also, a new sharp needle will go in like butter. The one i was using in the video got dinged and was a rather dull. Later on, i got a nice 18 gauge needle from a local nurse, and that made the drainings go a lot better.? Went in easier, and no pain, even with no ice.

i have an infected knee right now i got the puss squeezed out but it wasnt? that big
By: anniebhier. on 07 Jul 11, 03:58:49
Ow ow? ow. I want to know how you did this without it hurting, because my doc drained my knee today and I thought I might cry, it hurt terribly. Hopefully he knew what he was doing and didn't injure my knee worse. :-P
By: theunholycrown666. on 19 May 11, 22:51:03
Man I know exactly how painful these things can be. I had water on the knee years ago back when I was around 17-18. Was staying at a friends house and woke up in the night with tremendous stiffness and pain in my knee, which was swollen like a small apple the next morning. Kinda weird seeing exactly what was in there now though. Honestly can't remember how they got rid of it though, just remember the intense pain. Braver man than I? though for doing that. Can it really come back so frequently?

for sure.mines not swollen to much, but? then again i do have a big knee...if it gets worse ill go to a sports doctor and see what should be done, until then ill try a tight ace bandadge.
By: jacebigelow. on 15 Mar 11, 19:03:53
I did mine so that i could bend me knee without it feeling like an internal water balloon was going to pop. It's possible for it to heal on its own. I was told to stretch a tight knee bandage over it (from Dicks), and wear that. But that made it worse actually. It never went down on? its own, till i started draining it. Eventually, it stopped filling up. Be careful. They say the knee is the most complex joint in the body. had a few friends warn me of infection and gangreen.
By: leonscottkennedyre4. on 15 Mar 11, 18:25:02
sort of feels like a pouch of fluid, already had some x-rays done, now they say i need an MRI...i dont think i would try it at home until it starts to bug me.but im nervous having anything done to my knees as when i was younger i messed up a tendon real bad,i don't want to be crippled over a bad? operation(happened to my uncle).
By: jacebigelow. on 15 Mar 11, 12:25:27
Yes, sounds like what happened to me. Does it feel like a pouch of fluid in there ? Many Dr's wont drain this out if it's not causing pain. I would not exactly recommend you try this at home, but I did what I had to do. I even had expensive X-Rays, paid the bill, and? they STILL would not drain me. Can you say FRAUD ?! If you go see your PCP, he/she will most likely study it for a while, and then pass the buck to a sports injury specialist...

i fell on my knee about a month ago.its swollen but doesn't hurt or bug me,the skin is all numb, would i have to have? this done to my knee?
