Anyone who knows Italian Greyhounds knows that they are mildly stubborn and very sensitive breed. They respond favorably only to gentle, upbeat training methods that emphasize cheerful praise and food rewards. His methods never change from breed to breed, you? can't handle an Italian greyhound like you would a pit bull.

I forgot to mention her breed,,, she is a 22 month? old black lab/greyhound/beagle mix.

My dog is a wee bit more aggressive with other dogs,,, what do I do??? I cannot pick her up,,, and don't have the strength to hold her back. Again,,, what do I do??? (I'm in a wheelchair,,, she's tied to it,,, and she's strong enough to? move it even though it weighs over 350 lbs.

Some people here love their dogs so much that won't even touch them as a sort of punishment. You gotta remember like Cesar says they're animals not humans you can't treat them higher than you? would human that's when the problems start coming in. I learned that the hard way.

I think I'm going to stop commenting now. I'm? sure people are getting tired of reading... So I leave you with this: I am not jealous of Cesar, I do believe that clicker training is the most effective way to train a dog, but not the only way. I think differently than Cesar does. I understand that he is trying to help the dogs in the way that he knows how. Unfortunately for him, recent research shows that methods such as his can be detremental. Thanks for your time, Melody

Sure, it may take? longer than physically correcting the dog for doing something wrong, but positive methods have been proven to make a longer lasting impression on the dog than a negative impression. Speaking of which, making the dog think negatively about punishment while strangers are around is the opposite of what you want to do. The dog will then associate strangers with their past agression AND the negativity of the punishment. That sets the dog up for even worse agression.
By: MelodyPythonVeria. on 12 May 12, 03:00:56
For example, if a dog growls and bites at people that they don't know you can create a safe situation in which the dog starts off far away from a stranger and is calm, and is rewarded for being calm. Then, as the dog is succeeding? you can move the stranger closer and closer, rewarding the dog all the while. If the dog becomes agressive, remove the dog from the situation, let some time pass, then reset with the stranger a little further away than the place where the dog reacted to them.

I don't much like dogs being compared to any animals, be them whales, sharks, or even wolves, which they are the closest to. Wolves and dogs are alike in some ways,? yes, but they are also different because of years and years of domestication. Dogs have purposely been bred to be different than wolves. Anyway, it is possible to rehabilitate an agressive dog through positive methods. It is possible because you can alter a dog's response to certain things.
By: MelodyPythonVeria. on 12 May 12, 02:56:07
While yes, you are correct that the dog chokes itself because the dog is pulling that? doesn't make it any better. A dog being choked and a dog choking itself are both as detrimental to the dog's health. If a dog is being choked or feels the need to choke itself in an attempt to break away/flee/attack or whatever then something should be looked at as being incorrect because the dog is being physically harmed or physically harming itself.

BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN ?
By: MontrealChic. on 19 Apr 12, 09:39:08
Yes good point. You can just talk any aggressive dog out of attacking a child or other dog or telepathically communicate what you want it to do with your mind. I'll be? sure to try that next time.
By: MontrealChic. on 19 Apr 12, 09:34:32
Ok let's see how? you would clicker train a dog that wants to kill you.
