In which John discusses contemporary art, television, chickens, poultry farms, and the artwork of Tea Makipaa. Makipaa's videos are available for free to poultry farmers in Finland. The farms in which she showed the video were "cage free" and "free range" but still totally depressing. Our community lives at www.nerdfighters.com

in most cases yes. But occasionally assistance is required such as if the chick has a physical defect. But those cases are fairly rare. So under a normal condition yes... let the chick get out of the egg its self.?

I think she said they had checked before putting it in the incubator. I vaguely recall a friend of mine who worked at an egg farm saying they held them up to the light. But you have a point, must be tough to see the two yolks. I just tried? holding an egg from my frige up to a light and all I can see is a glowing egg!
By: Justt436. on 21 May 12, 21:24:32
you're right, but if there is one chik in? an egg, it's best not to help it.

lol twins. I remember when I should fry egg, and two egg yolks came out? of the hatched egg!

chicks would have died with out help in this case.Helping a chick out is normaly Not recommended unless you know the science of chicken eggs.Bluebird is right though people the vessel needs to drain & allow time inbetween so the vessel & emb. cord can dry from the pip hole in the egg. This is why chicks poke a pip hole & then do nothing for several hours. In short dont hatch or help chicks out unless you know the science behind hatching eggs, you Will have some horrible time you wont enjoy.?

I dont know if I could handle it. Your? a stronger lady then I. xD
By: bluebird7962. on 09 May 12, 14:08:51
My pleasure. I only found that out when I started keeping chickens myself -but not from trial and error - from reading books. The lady who hatched these chicks did absolutely the right thing because they would never have hatched? and died in the shell.
By: nagaempress. on 09 May 12, 13:28:24
Honestly TY for answering my question! I never knew? that.
By: bluebird7962. on 09 May 12, 07:50:18
You can't just take the shell off. You have to go? through shell, membrane before you reach the chick. If you 'just take the shell off' you can rupture blood vessels surrounding the chick and the chick can bleed to death. By giving a little time in between, you are allowing the chicks time to absorb what is left of blood and albumen.
By: TheNaturalRose. on 07 May 12, 12:57:20
how did you know if they were twins or not before they? hatched?
By: Alyxm. on 05 May 12, 09:23:01
Good job on not hurting them... No offence but most people your age are stupid and you? really shouldnt be around them
By: cvillarrealb. on 05 May 12, 05:58:39
Wow!! that is unbelievable. You did such a great job, thanks for helping them. I just saw a video a couple of days ago about Meyer Hatchery and they said double yolked eggs never hatch and I thought your video was fake, but I gave a watch and now I? believe it is possible, well, with your help, but it was worth it, wasn't it? Thank you again

By: nagaempress. on 04 May 12, 13:39:30
why not just take the shell off when you started removing it? Why did you wait a while when you ended? up taking it off anyway?
By: nagaempress. on 04 May 12, 13:37:18
