This is Gustav von Steinbaum, a pup from my "G" litter, now owned by a police officer and named "Bear". Bear came back to stay with me for 7 days while his owner went on a short vacation. We had loads of fun, but we also got in some training. It turns out that Bear is a very smart boy. For 15 weeks, he is way ahead of the learning curve. He is also a nice, hefty 46 pounds at 15 weeks.

My dog just wont play fetch with me. She just plays with the ball by herself but if I throw it there is no interest she just sit and looks at me for attention. Im not sure what to? do, Iv tried plenty of websites and nothing seems to get her to play. if I use food she just wait until she gets it. Iv trained her to do so much more but this she doesnt show interest.

That worked for my lab/cattle dog mix. Will not work for the pure breed bluey. He runs after the ball then lays down where it lands so that I have to walk out? to him. He used to retrieve perfectly but now he is determined to train me to go to where he decides to put the ball. He is driving my husband and I crazy.

try again and boost her confidence only praise the good? and give no attention to her mistakes, positive reinforcement, it can be done.
By: tripvids420. on 13 Sep 11, 14:03:01
praise him a ton, boost his confidence make him associate the ball with you being happy with him,? any sign of him having interest you must pick up on and encourage, just wagging his tail and looking at the ball is a good sign, if he paws it even better, he will be picking it up and taking it away in no time!

my dog has major confidence issues, he needs loads of encouragement and seems to be afraid of toys I hope that we can work on this at the park today:) I know I may not be able to get him to fetch but just showing interest in the? ball would be a milestone, maybe he will pick it up in his mouth! I hope so!

@sundalo47 make him interested in the ball, cheer him on when he picks it up or shows interest, start off playing with the ball and throwing it short distances and make the ball like a special treat praise him when he shows? interest, so he will associate the ball with you being happy/pleasing you.
