Socialization is definitely key. But even that's not enough if the breeders don't learn to evaluate and test their dogs. We in the? USA need to learn to breed the correct temperament dog, of all breeds.

Will my male gsd kaizer be ok with a male rottie pup kaizer will be 18 months old next February and the puppy rottie will be? 3 months

It is very necessary to control where your dog sleeps. At first I thought it was appropriate for my Rotty to jump on the bed when she pleased but then she wanted to lay on the white sofas and at? my in laws bed. So I leaned my lesson with that. Now she doesn't get on anything unless I give her permission.
By: MsWanderingstar. on 18 Feb 12, 21:23:40
Don't get me wrong, I do believe in setting boundaries... I just never heard of controling where a dog sleeps? and dogs showing aggression because they are allowed to sleep on the bed (or chair, or couch...) in philosophies other than the "Dominance theory".
By: eletendre1. on 19 Jan 12, 18:07:37
Controlling the sleeping areas is one of the easiest most important things you can do with a dog. Many dogs show aggression for the first time when they are allowed on the bed with no boundaries. They do have to set boundaries to teach their dogs that? are the benevolent leader. Thanks!
By: MsWanderingstar. on 19 Jan 12, 13:59:06
Eric,I usually love and recommend your videos, but you lost me when you started talking about controlling things like sleeping... this just once again gives the wrong idea that people have to be dominant toward their rottie. I think you could have phrased it differently, for instance stressed "benevolent" leadership and reinforcing good? behavior. Good job on mentionning that rotties do make great pet dogs, and that they need proper SOCIALIZATION so they don't develop fears (like all dogs need)!

I want to raise my rott right, and at first she was submissive but now shes being a brat lol... shes snapping during play and i've done all of? the positive stuff but she still continues... While in the Marine Corps, I trained with 9month + old shepherds but I've never dealt with a 10week old rott

This is a good Video on how to Train your rottie but if you Want to socialize them at a young age by bringing them to a dog park be careful cause rotties cam get parvo (the only types of dogs that get parvo is dogs that have dark skin) and trust me I know my 3month old rottie died cause it didn't get all of it shots and we brought it to a dog park ( and a few days? later it had some symptoms like throwing up not eating etc) and we never heard of parvo so when we brought her to the vet she (the v

Hey Eric, great advice for training rotties. Just got one question for you to answer, is it better to get a female rottweiler instead of a male? Because one guy I know who is familiar with them said your'e better off getting a female instead of a male because they are a lot calmer and? a whole lot gentler. Is this true or not? Thanks! ;) Love Rotties
